Safe Church

The Uniting Church in the City is committed to providing safe places where people of all ages are cared for, nurtured and sustained. UCIC dedicates itself to the care, protection and safety of all people relating to its worshipping communities, activities, programs including the Trinity School for Seniors.

What does this mean?

The Uniting Church is entrusted to provide a safe environment for all people to encounter God, to deepen relationships and grow in faith. We believe that every person is precious to God and that in following Jesus’ example we are called to care for all people, especially those who are vulnerable.

We commit to being a community which:

  • provides and maintains a welcoming and safe environment
  • offers suitable and well-equipped leadership
  • provides a level of resourcing that reflects the value of all people
  • provides clear and appropriate Duty of Care guidelines.

Safe Church Training

Safe Church training is facilitated by the National Council of Churches in Australia (NCCA) through the Safe Church Training Agreement(SCTA). Members from each worshipping community have completed a full day workshop and will undergo a a  refresher course every three years. The Refresher Workshops provide updates on relevant legislative changes and recommendations of judicial inquiries, compliance requirements and review of progress towards being a safe church.
